Help Neighbors in Need This Holiday Season

As we get closer to the holiday season, we are reflecting on 2020. The holidays typically see a rise in numbers of people facing housing or food insecurity, but this year will be much worse. The Salvation Army anticipates up to 155% more people requiring its assistance services to get through to the new year. In an already hectic year, The Salvation Army needs the help of anyone who is able to, to support its programs in our local communities.

The Salvation Army’s Programs for the Holidays

The Rescue Christmas initiative assists our neighbors during the holiday season to set them up on the right foot to start 2021. It has food programs like grocery assistance and meal and food box distribution. Also, it helps offset bills like rent and mortgage so that they do not stack up. About 12 million families missed those bills in March, and unemployment rates have risen since. Due to COVID-19, The Salvation Army will be putting out fewer red kettles this year to collect donations. This means your help is needed more than ever to meet the demand of people who need The Salvation Army’s services. When you donate at Street Smart Storage in Vass NC or Wilmington NC, you holiday donation goes toward local programs.
